Women with disabilities can experience a higher risk of violence and intersecting forms of discrimination. Capturing violence against women with disabilities can be challenging on several fronts including methodologically and operationally. Under the principle of leaving no one behind, the Joint Programme is commissioning a review to inform a global dialogue to develop stronger measures to better capture the experiences of violence faced by women with disabilities. In 2019, a protocol paper for a scoping review on violence against women with disability-focused surveys and studies was developed. The scoping review has been initiated by WHO and will then be consulted with experts, academics in research institutions, and non-governmental organizations in the area of disability. The scoping review will be finalized in 2020 and will inform concrete recommendations for a more rigorous measure to better capture the violence experiences among women with disabilities.
