Breaking and Rebuilding-The 2011 Asian Conference of Women’s Shelters

Jour(s): 7 and 8

The 2011 Asia Conference of Women’s Shelter will gather experts from different Asian countries to address numerous issues relating to girl survivors of gender-based violence with the aim to share strategies and good practices to end violence against girls. The conference will highlight practices both within and outside of the shelter which can contribute to a successful strategic action plan of empowerment – gender awareness, women’s rights, confidentiality, as well as enhancing competency in terms of working and learning. Within this conference, the topics discussed will tackle the issue of how to turn brilliant ideas into successful strategies, services, processes and new ways of creating partnerships with public/private sectors.

The conference organizer, the Garden of Hope Foundation, has already been providing a safe home to those in need for nearly two decades, and seeks to facilitate a platform for interaction and discussion to other women’s groups in Asia.
