This Symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners, advocates and activists, government representatives and the donor community to share experiences, evidence and insights and seek directions on how men and boys can creatively contribute to gender equality, the new development paradigm beyond the MDG framework, and towards the broader vision of social justice.
Raising Voices and CEDOVIP announce the extension of the application deadline and change of dates for “The Dimensions of Prevention” course at the Learning Center. There is still time to apply for this exciting course, which examines core principles of effective violence against women (VAW) prevention and helps participants to identify untapped opportunities in programing. Gain deeper understanding of the types of prevention, prevention strategies and the ethical principles of quality prevention- linking all of these to practice for greater results. The course comes with Technical Assistance to support participants to integrate what is learned into current programing.
This conference is the final event of the Daphne Project JUST/2011/DAP/AG/3350 financed by the European Commission and entitled ‘Developing integrated responses to sexual violence: an interdisciplinary research project on the potential of restorative justice’. It aims not only to disseminate the preliminary results of this project but also to gather a number of world experts from academia, practice and policy on the topic.

Local: John Snow Lecture Theatre, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UKThis 8 day training on Engaging Men in Accountable Practice (EMAP) to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls facilitated by the IRC in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to train others on EMAP, as well as provide the participants with techniques to engage with necessary stakeholders for engaging men and boys in the prevention of violence against women and girls. Participants will also receive on-going technical support including one-on-one coaching, web-based discussions, and access to a peer network for shared learning and ongoing support. This is a unique professional development opportunity to improve skills and knowledge on gender-based violence prevention programming.
