This is an eight week distance education course developed by KODE (Kimmage Open & Distance Educaiton).  The course is divided into two modules and 4 units, with exercises and assignments.  The course is targeted primarily to community development pracitioners and includes an online course, a CD comprising all of the content, tutorial advice and support.

VAW EMERGENCY RESPONSE & PREPAREDNESS TRAINING: A Skills Building Opportunity from the Thematic Action Group on Violence Against Women in Emergencies

The IRC’s Emergency Response & Preparedness training package is aimed at better equipping emergency responders to prepare for, launch and support rapid, effective response to VAW in crisis situations. The training, through the VAW in Emergencies TAG, will also give participants the opportunity to raise and discuss challenges or questions they face related to emergency response in their own contexts.
By the end of the training, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:
·         Develop context-specific emergency preparedness plans;
·         Adapt and use appropriate information collection tools to carry out rapid assessments in emergency settings;
·         Generate and prioritize recommendations for action, in line with international best practices; and
·         Initiate and advocate for interventions to respond to VAW in emergencies and reduce risks to women and girls.

Please note: the content will be similar to that of the training held in October 2012. Previous participants will not be invited to participate again. However, a different staff member from your organization is welcome to apply to this opportunity.

Cases of Sexual and GBV as International Crimes

Justice Rapid Response, in partnership with UN Women and the Institute for International Criminal Investigation will be hosting a training course on “Investigating Cases of Sexual and Gender-based Violence as International Crimes”

Course Dates:  January 19th -25th, 2014

 

The training will be held at the kind invitation of the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia. The training course is made possible thanks to a very generous contribution from the government of Canada, as well as contributions from the governments of Colombia, Sweden and Lichtenstein.

The course aims at increasing the availability on the roster of Spanish-speaking criminal justice and gender experts in the investigation of SGBV crimes, particularly from the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC) region.
