To create long-term sustainability, the coordinated response must incorporate new membership and consolidate and diversify its activities as local conditions dictate. Extending the sector can take different forms by:
- Bringing-in non-traditional partners (this will depend on the context, but may include agencies beyond the criminal justice and victim/survivor service sectors, such as men’s groups, faith groups/leaders, businesses);
- Expanding service delivery mechanisms;
- Replicating existing models that are successful;
- Continuous monitoring, evaluation and training of staff that delivers services;
- Using gender mainstreaming to ensure a gendered analysis of violence and related issues is incorporated into all areas of policy development; and
- Sustained local, national and global advocacy with governments and institutions.
