2nd Annual Technology Summit - Safety and VAW - 26/27 October, Melbourne, Australia

WESNET is pleased to announce the date of their 2nd Annual Technology Safety Summit, which will be held 26-27 October 2017, in Melbourne. The Summit will bring together national and international experts on technology safety and violence against women. This year’s Summit will span two days and focus on presentations and workshops that range from emerging issues such as image-based abuse to cutting edge technology, such as internet of things and smart technology.

10th UNESCO Youth Forum Paris (25-26 October 2017)

The Forum will bring together expert youth from all regions of the world to discuss pertinent issues related to UNESCO fields of competence that they will identify during a preparatory phase earlier in the year. During the forum, a series of recommended actions and priorities will be drafted to guide UNESCO’s youth actions for the next biennium.

Call for proposals - SVRI and WBG Development Marketplace for Innovation on Gender-Based Violence 2018

The SVRI and WBG announces our new open call for awards recognizing promising innovations aimed at preventing gender-based violence. Awards of up $USD100,000 are available. 

Applications to the SVRI WBG Development Marketplace for Innovation in Prevention of Gender-Based Violence must be received online by October 6, 2017.

Calls for Proposals by the European Commission: Promoting Gender Equality and Women's and Girls' empowerment in developing countries - 25th October

The global objective of this call for proposals is to contribute to gender equality and women's and girls' empowerment in developing countries. Specifically, it seeks to reinforce the technical and financial capacity of local civil society organisations (CSOs) to foster rights of women and girls living in developing countries with high prevalence of violence against women and countries affected by forgotten crisis.

Canadian Domestic Homicide Prevention Conference - October 18-19, 2017, London

A conference for policy makers, mental health, justice and social service professionals involved in the prevention, assessment, management, and safety planning for domestic violence and domestic homicide, particularly those working with Indigenous, rural, remote, northern, immigrant and refugee populations, and children exposed to domestic violence.

Engaging Men and Boys in Gender Equality Programming - 11 October-21 November 2017

This e-learning course introduces participants to principles, strategies, normative frameworks and policy approaches on engaging men and boys on gender equality. Examining critical concepts such as masculinity, patriarchy and intersectionality, the course discusses why a holistic approach is central to achieving gender equality and explores the relationship between gender equality, sustainable development and human rights. 

Week 1: Men, masculinities and gender – key concepts and normative/legal framework
Week 2: Opportunities and challenges of engaging men and boys in gender equality programming
Week 3: Gender-based violence
Week 4: Sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS
Week 5: Domestic work and caregiving
Week 6: Lessons learned and the way ahead
